The Park is the largest single block of tidal halophytic (a halophyte is a plant that naturally grows where it is affected by salinity in the root area or by salt spray, such as in saline semi-deserts, mangrove swamps, marshes and sloughs, and seashores) mangrove forest in the world.
Sundarbans National Park is a home to the tigers that are well adapted to unique environment of the Park. They are expert in swimming and can also catch fish for their feast. Sundarbans also shelters wildlife like fishing cats, macaques, wild boar, Common Grey Mongoose, fox, jungle cat, flying fox, Indian Pangolin and chitals.
Numerous migratory birds make Sundarbans their temporary home in the winters. Some of the most beautiful birds sighted here are Open Billed Storks, White Ibis, Water Hens, Coots, Pheasant Tailed Jacanas, Pariah Kites, Brahminy Kites, Marsh Harriers, Swamp Partridges, Red Jungle Fowls, Spotted Doves, Common Mynahs, Jungle Crows, Jungle Babblers, Cotton Teals, Herring Gulls, Caspian Terns, Gray Herons, Brahminy Ducks, Spotted Billed Pelicans, Large Egrets, Night Herons, Common Snipes, Wood Sandpipers, Green Pigeons, Rose Ringed Parakeets, Paradise Flycatchers, Cormorants, Fishing Eagles, White Bellied Sea Eagles, Seaguls, Common Kingfishers, Peregrine falcons, Woodpeckers, Whimprels, Black-Tailed Godwits, Little Stints, Eastern Knots, Curlews, Golden Plovers, Pintails, White Eyed Pochards and Whistling Teals.
Apart from the above wildlife species, Sundarbans also inhabits fascinating species such as Olive Ridley turtles, dolphins, sea snakes, king cobra and crocodiles. Some of the aquatic beings found here are Saw Fish, Butter Fish, Electric Rays, Silver Carp, Star Fish, Common Carp, Crabs, Prawn, Shrimps, Gangetic Dolphins, Skipping Frogs, Common Toads and Tree Frogs.

THREE NIGHTS & FOUR DAYS
1st Day: Kolkata – Sundarban :
Sundarban Farm & Wildlife Tours welcome’s you to the Sundarban Tiger Reserve , Biggest Mangrove forest and a World Heriage site declared by UNESCO in the year 1985and was made a biosphere Reserve in 1989. . The journey will start in the morning at 7:30 AM from Esplanade (Near K.C.Das Confectionery and our second pick up point is from P.C.Chandra Garden (Gate No.1), Science city - at 8:00AM. Packed Breakfast will be served on the way with a brief stopover for tea and refreshments, At midday you arrive at Gothkhali Jetty, where you will be greeted by our local guide and transfer to the boat . We cruise through rivers Gomor, Durgadhwani to enter river Pitchkhali on bank of which lies Our Resort overlooking the Sunderban Tiger Reserve (Total Journey: 5 Hours [Road 3 Hours: Boat 2 Hours).
On your arrival you will be greeted by our team and checked into our Resort . Hot lunch will be served at our dining hall. Afternoon you cruise through the creeks and canals of the Sunderban Tiger Reserve forest to Sajnekhali Watchtower and Mangrove Interpretation Centre.
Watch the sun sets in the distant horizon we return to the resort to refresh and join us for Tea with snacks by the evening to watch Adivasi dance performed by the tribal’s of Sunderbans. They show happiness and hardships in their lives through dance.
A warm dinner will be served in the dinning hall at the 8:30 PM followed by camp fire ( Winter ) in the garden.
2nd Day: Sundarban Tiger Reserve
Wake up call at 6:00 AM with a hot cup of tea is served in your balcony. Refresh and board a thrilling cruise towards Dobanki Watch Tower as we move into the Sundarban Tiger Reserve Forest through creeks and dense forest and numerous rivers (breakfast on board).
The canopy walk at Dobanki Watch Tower inside the forest sends chills down your spine . After that we visit Panchamukhani, Pirkhali, Gajikhali by Boat which we cruise back through Matla – Sea Face (the point from where Bay of Bengal can be seen) . Then return to Resort for lunch.
In the afternoon you will experience the true Sunderban, as you walk through the native village of Jamespur. You will encounter many wonderful sights as you learn about the lifestyle, local crafts, cuisines, and way of life of the local villagers.
Observe their indigenous farming methods and mud houses made with small entrances. Back to the resort for refreshments followed by a Bawl Folk song and dinner at 9:00 PM.
3 rd Day: Sundarban Tiger Reserve
Wake up to view an array of birds followed by a warm cup of tea. Freshen up and have your breakfast at the Resort and then depart for Netidopani Watch Tower, which is located deep inside the Sunderban Tiger Reserve. It houses a 300 year old temple of ‘Bon Bibi’ - Forest Goddess where the villagers who are fishermen and honey collectors of every caste pray for their safety and security from the tiger and crocodile whom they have personified as gods and goddesses. (Hot Lunch is served onboard as we cruise back to the resort).
In the evening free for individual activities.
4th Day: Sundarban Tiger Reserve - Kolkata
Wake up call at 6 AM with a hot cup of tea in the morning . Refresh before we head for the morning cruise into the Sunderban Tiger Reserve once again through creeks and rivers heading to the Sudhayakhali Watchtower.
Walk to the disembarking towards the watchtower, searching for the elusive tiger. Keep a look at the sweet water pond where you may sight a deer drinking water or a water monitor lizard basking by the sun as well as monkeys and wild boars may be sighted nearby. Breakfast is served on board with refreshments as we cruise back to Sunderban Tiger Roar Resort. After an early lunch you will be transfer back to Kolkata .

Sunderbans National Park was declared as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1973 by Government of India and was given the status of the national park in 1978. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites too. The huge marshy delta of two great Indian rivers as Ganges and Brahmaputra expands over areas, which include the mangrove forest, marsh land and jungle island all mixed in a system of small rivers and also some streams. Sunderbans is the largest mangrove forest in the world. The name Sunderbans has come from Sundari plants, which were in a large quantity once in this region. The major attractions of the park is its topography. The major animal of the national park is Royal Bengal Tiger and it is one the most famous place for tiger safari in India. The few other wildlife of Sunderbans are Fishing Camp, Common Grey Mongoose, Jungle Cat, Wild boar, flying fox, fox, chital, macaques and Pangolin.
Anybody may plan their Sundarban tour by their own. The nearest Airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport. The Airport is well connected to major cities of India through regular flights. Cabs can be hired from the Airport to reach Sundarban which takes around 3 hours to reach.
Mostly 1 night/2 days or 2 nights/3 days packages are popular but anybody may extend their day. It is better to visit Sundarbans in a group. The main cost of visiting Sundarbans is the boat, thus visiting in a group helps dividing the boat cost, otherwise you have to bear the whole cost of the boat.
